I am super excited to share these polishes with you today! 786 Cosmetics reached out to me to try their polishes. This brand is unique in that their polish is halal. Halal is an Arabic word meaning lawful or permitted, used in relation to food, meat, cosmetics, personal care products, pharmaceuticals and other things.
From the 786 website “Our industry leading formula is water permeable. Which means water can penetrate through our nail polish allowing you to perform Wudu and pray without having to remove it. Our formula took years of research and development. Every aspect has been perfected. Contrary to popular belief, being water permeable does not make our nail polish chip and peel easily. Actually quite the opposite, unlike other nail polishes our non-peelable formula lasts anywhere from 7 to 10 days with just one coat. 786 Cosmetics has also been tested & verified as 100% Halal & Wudu Friendly by Kalamazoo Islamic Center (KIC). “
I’m not Muslim, but I know pretty nail polish when I see it, lol. I picked 3 beautiful colors and their top coat. Let’s get to the pretties!
This beautiful teal cream is Lagos. Each of the polishes are named after cities in places like India, Iran, Morocco, etc., which is super cool.
For this polish and the next polish, Jaipur, I didn’t wear base coat (base coat isn’t halal), I did two coats and I used the 786 Cosmetics top coat. I was a little worried about staining with this color, but I didn’t have any issues at all with it staining my nails or my cuticles.
I did see some bumps near the base of my nail (you can’t really see them in the picture)- but it actually might have been my nail, since I didn’t have any base coat on so it would show more of my natural nail through the polish.
You can see the bumps a bit on my middle finger in this picture.
Then I wore Jaipur, a pretty terracotta polish. I didn’t think I’d like this color as much as I did, lol. I wore this with no base and the 786 top coat. Oh, let’s talk about their top coat. When I wore Lagos and put the top coat (which is considered a quick dry top coat) I waited maybe 30 minutes and went to bed. It was pretty dry, and I didn’t get sheet marks, but the sheets did dull the top coat a little. So when I put on Jaipur I waited longer to go to bed and didn’t have that issue.
I wore this all day Saturday to do my household chores and errands, and it too held up great! No chipping. And it really is a super pretty color!
I had no idea how to handle clean up with a water permeable polish, so I just used my regular acetone and Elf concealer brush, and that worked perfectly. They were easy polishes to clean up.
Then I put on Hyderabad, the hot pink cream!! For this one I did my Nailtiques 2, Orly Bonder, 2 coats of polish and my Seche Vite top coat. I wanted to see if the polish worked with “regular” base and top coat- and it totally did, just fine.
For each of the polishes I did 2 coats- and they only needed 2 coats. The first coat for each of them was kind of patchy but totally evened out on the second coat. And they self leveled really well. I bumped my wet nail when I put on Jaipur and just kind of touched up the ding and it totally leveled out with no issues.
I really like this color! I put this on Sunday and am still wearing this today (Tuesday)- no chips or even tip wear! I’m super impressed!
It so happened that I picked three cream polishes- which is unusual for me- and they were really easy to work with.
Such a pretty color!! They did have shimmer polishes to choose from, but for some reason I was drawn to these three. They only have cream and shimmer finishes, I’d love to see more finishes but I don’t know how that changes the ability to be halal.
I really like this brand, I was impressed by the ease of use. It’s not my favorite top coat, but I’m going to try it over some foils I have to see if it would be something I could use for that.
Live your life with love in your heart and glitter on your nails!
