So I broke another nail, so have shorter nails on my mani hand, so I was looking for some darker polish since I really like dark polish on shorter nails. I’d recently picked up Black to Reality from their Holiday 2018 Nutcracker and the Four Realms collection, so I thought I’d try that.
It’s such a pretty polish, I just love dark vampy short nails! Then it occurred to me that I have a bunch of OPI polishes that look just like this. Here they are (kind of smooshed together for space in the picture, lol)
L-r Black to Reality, Germanicure, Midnight in Moscow, Every Month is Oktoberfest, Vampsterdam, Muir Muir on the Wall, and Rich and Brazilian.
And then swatched on my nail mat in the same order.
So then I looked at the ones that seemed closest and compared them on my actual fingernails. Here are some comparisons!
First up is (l-r) Germanicure, Vampsterdam and Rich and Brazilian. No dupes, thought Vampsterdam and Rich and Brazilian are the same color family, different finishes.
Next is Every Month is Oktoberfest, Vampsterdam and Muir Muir on the Wall.
Not dupes, but I’ve always thought that Every Month is Oktoberfest and Muir Muir on the Wall were super close. Actually they’re all super close.
Then next is Germanicure, Black to Reality and Midnight in Moscow. Do you see what I saw? That Black to Reality and Midnight in Moscow are pretty much dupes?
Germanicure is a great polish, btw, one of my all time faves (as is Every Month is Oktoberfest, love them both, well, I love all of these, they’re my jam!)
So here is Black to Reality and Midnight in Moscow. There might be slllliiiiigggght differences in the red shimmer, but honestly, if you have Midnight in Moscow already, you sure don’t need Black to Reality (and vice versa!).
All of these had great formulas. I did do 3 coats for Vampsterdam and Every Month is Oktoberfest, but I don’t mind doing 3 coats.
So there you have it!
Live your life with love in your heart and glitter on your nails!
