To be honest, I rarely wear red, so I pulled out some to try! 2 from OPI, 5 Apples Tall and Log on to Love, and 2 China Glaze, Flame-boyant and Ruby Pumps
Let’s start with Flame-boyant, from their 2017 Summer Reign collection. Super pretty color! And a good formula.
It’s sllllightly on the orangy side of red. This was 2 coats. It is a thin formula, so I did do thin coats so it wouldn’t flood my cuticles. But nicely opaque in 2!
Then OPI’s 5 Apples Tall from the Hello Kitty collection (back in 2016!)
A smidge more red than Flame-boyant, but still that tomato red color. This was slightly thicker than the China Glaze.
Maybe a little on the crelly side? Which imho makes it easier to work with. It was almost plump looking, which I love.
And of course the Hello Kitty caps are super cute!
Then I tried OPI’s Log on to Love. This was a duo with Met on the Internet, released in 2009 as a mini e-romance collection. This is the red of the duo, Met on the Internet is pink.
It’s so gorgeous! Easy 2 coats, the shimmer really adds to this polish I think.
You can see the shimmer more in the close up. It’s definitely subtle, but it adds a little something to the polish!
And last but not least is the iconic Ruby Pumps from China Glaze. I don’t know why I’d never worn this before, it’s really really beautiful. This one is from the Wizard of Ohh Ahz collection in 2009. Apparently this collection was originally released in 2001, then they were petitioned for a re-release, that happened in 2009! So this is the reformulated version.
It’s so gorgeous- I feel like it’s the perfect neutral red shade for my skin type.
I did do 3 coats of this just to deepen the base, but the formula was super easy to work with.
I have to say I’m surprised at how much I liked each of these polishes! I rarely wear red, but all these shades were flattering and easy to work with. I feel like they’re all neutral enough to be good for most skin colors. I recommend all of them!
Live your life with love in your heart and glitter on your nails!
