Okay, let me preface this post by saying I am a HUGE John Singer Sargent fan. Huge. His painting Carnation Lily, Lily Rose is my most favorite painting of all time. I have seen it in person at the Tate Museum in London, and am surprised I wasn’t reprimanded by the guards for staring at it too long. Here it is.
So when I heard A England was coming out with a Sargent’s Vision collection, based on this picture, I was so excited. And then I was so let down. Here’s the whole collection. And it is so MEH!!
Where’s the pink? The peach? The rosy tones??? And what’s with the names??? Symphony? Nocturne? He was an artist, not a composer!!!!! Ugh! It’s not like I hate the colors, it’s just so limited and the names have nothing to do with the theme!!
The black should at least have been called Madame X! Here’s his painting of Madame X, which caused a huge scandal. He even had to paint straps on her dress- it was strapless.
But, I had to get Carnation Lily Lily Rose. Because of the name. Because of the painting. And it’s a basic silver holo.
Nothing outstanding. Not bad by any means, all the A England polishes I have have great formulas.
It’s super pretty in the sun. But honestly, Color Club’s Harp on it is a great silver holo. So, though pretty, it’s nothing super special.
In these two pictures you can see it in the sun, where the holo really shines. It’s much better outside (as are all holos).
I’m sad about this collection. It could have been so much more. It could have been so beautiful.
Live your life with love in your heart and glitter on your nails!
