I can’t believe I haven’t posted this yet???
I frequent a board on Makeup Alley called Nail Board. We discuss all things nail related, with a giant dash of fur babies thrown in. We had a member who was such a huge part of NB, her name was Susan, but her use name was JeffysMom. Jeffy and Tycho were her cats, and they would post with her with their commentary on her manis, and test the water she’d use to show the transition of thermal polishes, and things like that.
This handsome fella is Jeffy.
And this lovely lady is Tycho.
Sadly, Susan passed away in late 2018. I thought it would be a fitting tribute to have some custom polishes made in her honor. I reached out to Phoebe Moon of Moonshine Mani– I LOVE her YouTube channel, and she’s been making amazing polish for a couple of years now.
She graciously took on the challenge, and was such a sweetheart to work with. She came up with what became a quad of polishes to celebrate Jeffy’s Mom.
The first polish is called Springtime Yard. Every year, Susan’s yard would erupt in violets, and she would take Jeffy outside (Tycho did not like outside) for his annual foray into the yard. So this polish is green like grass, then has black glitters for the cats, purple glitters for the violets, and yellow glitters for the dandylions she had in her yard.
The second one is Miss You, Su. We had some correspondence on Nail Board with a man who knew Susan well, and he said she’d always sign her name Su, with no E since there isn’t an E in Susan. Makes sense! This was the first prototype for Springtime Yard, I had told Phoebe to make a mint green, but then we on the Nail Board decided it wasn’t grass green enough. But we liked this one so much we decided to ask if she’d make a quad and include this one for us. It’s just like Springtime Yard, but a mint green base and no yellow glitters.
Then we wanted a polish to honor Jeffy and Tycho, so we made a polish called Jeffy&Tycho, lol. It’s a black holo glitter with an amber shimmer (Jeffy is all black, Tycho is black and amber colored).
It’s soooo sparkly! I love this polish!
Then last but not least is Pastel Black. Susan used to call gray polish Pastel Black (or maybe it was Jeffy who called it Pastel Black). I wanted a gray polish, but with a twist, so I asked Phoebe to add in a strong pink shimmer, and boy did she! It’s absolutely gorgeous!
You can especially see the shimmer in the closeup!
Susan’s birthday was February 23, and we did manicures and pictures of our fur babies. Jeffysmomsboyfriend dropped in (the guy who was friends with her irl), and we even got a picture of Jeffy and Tycho!
I miss you, JM! I hope we on Nail Board can carry on your spirit of loving kindness.
Live your life with love in your heart and glitter on your nails!
