I am a HUGE Agatha Christie fan. HUGE! I have read all her mysteries and most of the novels she wrote under the pseudonym Mary Westmacott (highly recommend Giant’s Bread). I refused to read her play, The Mousetrap, because I always said I’d see it in London in person- and I did in March 2000. Ages ago now and I still remember it like it was yesterday. It’s the longest running play ever- it started in 1952 and has been running ever since (with a pause in performances due to COVID-19. Another reason to hate this virus!).
Anyway! On to the Moon Shine Mani polishes Phoebe Moon created! I bought this whole collection the moment it dropped. Let’s start with the more neutral polishes. This is Death on the Nile (a Hercule Poirot mystery). A pretty nude polish with flakies!
This didn’t give me lobster hands, as some pinky neutrals can.
I like the flakies in this, how they give that opalescence effect and add interest- a neutral with pizzazz.
Next is the darker neutral, And Then There Were None. I loved this book (well, I love all her books). You won’t see the end coming! This is a darker neutral with those same opalescent flakies!
Here are the two compared.
Death on the Nile on ring and pointer, And Then There Were None on midle and pinky. Here’s another comparison photo without the weird glare.
Of course I think you need both, but if you can only get one this will give you an idea of what may look best on your skin tone.
Then on to A Caribbean Mystery- a Jane Marple mystery. This book is unusual in that two characters from this book reappear in a later book (Nemesis).
This is a mid-tone purple with smaller multi-colored flakies.
There’s some darker small flakies (they’re not glitter) and some of those opalescent flakies as well.
The formulas on all of these polishes were the same- great! Good in two coats.
Then on to the darker purple, They Came to Baghdad. This is more of a spy novel, and I love that this book was influenced by her travels with her archeologist second husband Max Mallowan.
It’s a darker purple with flakies- it almost looks like cobblestone? Those Corian countertops? That kind of finish?
Here’s a closeup.
It’s a cool juxtopsition of the light and dark in the flakies.
Here’s a comparison of those polishes.
They Came to Baghdad on pointer and index, A Caribbean Mystery on middle and pinky. Here’s another comparison picture.
Both pretty, I prefer A Caribbean Mystery on me more.
Then on to my favorite polish in the collection, The Murder of Roger Ackroyd. It brings Poirot out of retirement and has a twist ending that no one had ever done before!
It’s a navy base with similar flakies to They Came To Baghdad (it looks like to me).
I love this tone of blue, so pretty. Formula great on this one too.
These are awesome- and Phoebe usually adds on to her colletions, so I can’t wait to see what she does next!!! Tommy and Tuppence? More of the spy kind of mysteries? Just a nudge, but Peril at End House is probably my most favorite of all her novels- though they’re all favorites.
I just love Agatha Christie and I wish I could have met her. Also, she has some mysteries in her own life! Her first husband had an affair and divorced her, she disappeared for several days causing a massive man (woman!) hunt, and never spoke about it. And she did some of the most original mysteries of all time! And, she’s an excellent writer. Okay, I could gush all day, but I’ll stop here by saying these are amazing polishes and I’m so glad Phoebe did this collection!
Live your life with love in your heart and glitter on your nails!
These are nice 😀
