Blogger Collaboration, Stamping Mani, Tonic Polish, Vapid Lacquer

Blogger Collaboration for May! Floral- some nail art!

May’s Blogger Collaboration theme was floral, and I decided to do a couple things! A reverse stamp (my first one! It wasn’t that great! LOL), and a stamp (I’m much better at that, lol).

Soooo first, we’ll start off with the reverse stamp. Basically, I picked a floral image and stamped it on my stamper. Then I took polishes and “colored” in the images with polish and my dotting tools.

So let’s talk about the yellow Vapid for a minute. This was pretty good, it’s Vapid Lacquer’s Pucked up Pony. It took 3 coats- which is typical of yellows- and this has a nice shimmer in it. BUT OH MY GOSH I kept screwing up my polish!! Not the polish’s fault, lol- first, I knocked my finger against something. Then I got them done, went to bed and woke up with DENTS! That never happens to me! So I had to do those two nails over. Ugh!

Then I did the reverse stamping, and I feel like I was a little ambitious with my first one, lol. I did a big image, and the lines are really thick, but oh well, I did it!

I did the stamp on the stamper, then sponged on some base coat to my painted nail (for stickiness so the stamp would stick). I saw the tip to sponge on the base coat instead of just swiping it on with the brush, and it seems to work really well. Then I stamped it on my nail, and cleaned up with acetone and my clean up brush. I used several OPIs to color this in.

Here’s the closeup. You can really see the flaws, lol.

So then I did some stamping! I used Tonic Windy City for the main polish, then I did an accent nail! I wanted that nail to be more of a negative space mani, so I painted it with OPI Heart Throb, a super neutral jelly, just to make the nail look more even. It did turn out more pink than I wanted, but oh well, lol.

Here’s a close up of the stamp.

I used a pink shimmery stamping polish, though it’s hard to see the shimmer.

Spot the cat hair on the left, lol. I love that the pink kind of brings out the flakies and shimmer in the Tonic polish. Windy City was very easy to apply, as all Tonic Polishes seem to be.

So the reverse stamping was somewhat of a fail, but I’m not mad at my first attempt! Practice makes perfect, so I’ll totally try again!

Check out all of the other blogger’s posts too, it is so fun having this monthly collab!
